Miksang (meaning "Good Eye" in Tibetan) is a form of contemplative photography that seeks to synchronize the eye and the mind in the present moment so that we can see what we're looking at. It helps us to capture the "flash of perception" that is a part of everyday life.

In the beginning God made them man and woman - and they've been trying to get along ever since. The SexeS marries the static art of photography with the dynamic art of dance to explore the complex relations between men and women. Vive la différence!

What can I say? Like any guy I’m a sucker for a pretty woman. There’s something about women of childbearing age that catches the immediate attention of any man (well almost any man – there are exceptions). This is why our species survives.

The world is a big place. The marriage of landscape and sky always yields an awesome spectacle. As big as they are, each of these scenes represents a fragile ecosystem. Enjoy them now. They may not be here for our great-grandchildren.

Even though pictures are able to tell 1000 words, sometimes they need a little help. Many of my photos have a very special meaning to me. They say things to me that they might not say to you.
 

Imagine having a dimmer switch on the world, then suddenly turning the switch down until its black. The dimming light has an eerie steely blue quality to it. And the centerpiece… High above is the strangest sight you could ever see; the total eclipse of the sun.

How would you like to go camping in the Sahara desert? Or wander around the ancient Roman ruins of Sabratha and Leptus Magna? Or view the infinite number of portraits of leader and dictator Muammar al-Gaddafi?

With a name like Brendan it is no surprise that I am of Irish heritage. Ireland is a magical place. It has thousands of years of history, steeped in mysticism and more recently in revolution. This gallery draws from hundreds, if not thousands, of photographs I have taken in Ireland over 3 decades.

Sometimes you just can't put the world in a box. You need to include everything. That's why my favorite lens is a circular fisheye that covers a 180° span. It's always with me. I have to be careful not to get my feet in the picture.

Beijing is a city where old people dance in the park, where artists ply their craft, where meditation is a way of life, and where even the disabled and indigent have a smile for a camera-toting tourist.
 

In October 2006 the Global Awareness Through Experience (GATE) program celebrated its 25th Anniversary. This gallery is assembled in honor of the program and its leaders. It features photos from trips to Guatemala with GATE in 1994, 1995 and 2004.
